Thomas: Rugged Autonomous Vehicles for Agriculture & Defense
Thomas (co-founding with Francisco Infante, backed by Food Labs) presents rugged, electric autonomous vehicles with no cabin that carry up to 4,000 kg over rough terrain, serving both agriculture and defense. Coming from ML-acceleration (TPUs, GPUs, co-founding Extropic), he describes the agricultural labor gap — 17 million workers in 2020 dropping to a projected 7 million by 2030 — their teleoperation-first approach that also generates training data, and stripping 70% of components out of the drivetrain. They just announced a 7 million round to scale from 1.5 vehicles to 100, ramping from one to eight per month, at an ~$80K price point.
