Welcome back. The main thing happening today is the launch of OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra. Live from 12–3 BST. Here's your Order of Play.

WHAT’S HAPPENING TODAY
OpenAI has released GPT-6 Astra, calling it "the world's most intelligent and aligned model."
Astra delivers the highest benchmark scores OpenAI has ever published: 98% on FrontierMath Tier 4, 99.9% on the ARC-AGI-3 reasoning test, and a perfect 100% on ExploitBench. OpenAI says the model has already helped solve long-standing open problems in mathematics and describes it as state-of-the-art across software engineering, science, computer use, and professional work. Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke tweeted a one-word reaction yesterday: “singularity.”
OpenAI describes Astra filling out forms, updating CRM records, building websites and running the checks to make sure they work, analysing scientific data, and installing and troubleshooting software on its own. It says the model completed a job search in under three minutes that would take a person five hours. Under the hood, it's OpenAI's largest training run yet, more than 100,000 GPUs, and the first where its own earlier models supervised the training of the new one.
Greg Brockman told reporters that “it’s not unreasonable to feel that we are now in the AGI era”, suggesting this model could one day be seen as the moment it arrived. But even inside OpenAI, there’s no consensus on what AGI actually means. Sam Altman recently called it “an irrelevant marketing term”, while Brockman acknowledged that the definition remains “grey” and “fuzzy”.
We're getting into all of it on today's show at 12 BST.
YESTERDAY’S MOMENT
Former UK deputy prime minister Dominic Raab joined the show alongside Index Law co-founder Quddus to explain why he's joined the legal AI startup, and what he thinks it can fix about the profession.
For Raab, who spent his career in law and served as justice secretary, the appeal wasn't just efficiency. "What I found so attractive was not just to make lawyers 20 or 30% more efficient, but to redesign the model so the consumer can get faster, more accurate, higher-impact legal advice. I think it's a real game changer."
