Bending Spoons has agreed to acquire Airtable in an all-cash deal valuing the US software company at around $1.3 billion. This marks the Italian technology company's first acquisition since its Nasdaq debut last month.
Airtable has quietly become one of enterprise software’s biggest success stories. Founded in 2013, its platform sits somewhere between a spreadsheet and a database, letting companies build applications and manage operational workflows without needing to code.
For Bending Spoons, the acquisition continues an aggressive buying spree. Since acquiring AOL and Eventbrite, the company continues to assemble a portfolio of well-known software brands. It's built a reputation for buying up digital businesses and restructuring them, pairing tech operations with a private-equity-style acquisition model. For a company only weeks into public life, it's a strong statement of intent.
