Welcome back. The main thing happening today is Mistral announcing its plan to build a gigawatt of European compute by 2030. Live 12–3 BST. Here's your Order of Play.

WHAT’S HAPPENING TODAY
The French lab Mistral has announced a three-part expansion of its infrastructure business. Customers can now choose whether their AI workloads run in Europe or the US and pay for a new "Priority Tier" with guaranteed service availability.
Most notably, Mistral is also building long-term compute commitments from some of Europe's biggest companies into its infrastructure business. Those commitments will fund 200 megawatts of capacity across Europe by the end of 2027, and a full gigawatt by 2030.
Those are enormous numbers. Mistral runs under 200 megawatts today, and independent estimates put the cost of a single gigawatt data centre at around $38 billion, most of it in chips. To bridge the gap, Mistral is asking Europe's industrial heavyweights, among them ASML, Amadeus and shipping giant CMA CGM, to commit for around five years.
The company will now host a Chinese model, GLM-5.2 from Z.ai, on its platform. Mistral co-founder and CTO Timothée Lacroix said the decision was straightforward: "It's a great model. Everyone loves it. It's open weight, so there was no good reason for us not to do it."
Mistral is predicting that increasingly large models and the rise of agentic AI will make it harder for companies to run inference on their own hardware. Lacroix said he does not see how enterprises can keep full inference in-house as model sizes and token usage continue to grow.
We're getting into all of it on today's show at 12 BST.
YESTERDAY’S MOMENT
Higgsfield CEO & Co-Founder Alex Mashrabov said AI-generated film is closer to mainstream adoption than many people think.
“Most of the people perceive AI-generated content as being kind of cheaper and less valuable,” he said, but argued that “On average, people don't care if the content is AI-generated or not, and very often people cannot even spot the difference.”
In the full interview, Mashrabov also discussed Higgsfield’s rapid scaling and path toward a $1B run rate, the economics of producing a two-hour AI film, and how the company is working with figures including Israel Adesanya, Rampage Jackson and N3ON.
